Chettinad Crab masala/crab curry

This Chettinad Crab Masala is a treat for seafood lovers. Delicious crab meat cooked in a flavorful gravy. A perfect side dish that goes well with everything and can also be used as a stand-alone appetizer.

Ingredients


King Crab
Oil-3tbsp
Mustard seeds-1/2tsp
Green chillies-3
Chopped onions-1
Ginger garlic paste-1 tbsp
turmeric powder-1/4tsp
Coriander powder-1tbsp
Chilly Powder-2tbsp
Chopped Tomatoes-2
Curry leaves


For coconut masala



Coconut-1cup
peppercorns-1tbsp
Cumin seeds-1tbsp
Dry Red Chillies-2


Method



  • For Coconut masala: Dry roast Grated coconut ,pepper corns ,cumin seeds and dry Red Chillies and saute them for a minute.
  • Grind it to a paste in a blender
  • In a pan,add Oil and temper it with mustard seeds and Green Chillies
  • Add Chopped Onions and saute it become golden color
  • Add Ginger garlic paste and saute until the raw smell is gone
  • Add the spices turmeric powder,coriander powder and chilly powder and saute them well
  • Add the chopped tomatoes  and cook them for until oil separates 
  • Now add the coconut paste 
  • Add some water and allow it to boil for few minutes
  • Add the crab and close it with  lid and cook for 10-15 minutes in medium heat .Do not overcook them meat will become hard 
  • Now our crab is done finish it off with some curry leaves.
  • Chettinad Crab masala is ready to serve
